USING NUTRITION TO ELEVATE YOUR GAME – PART 1

As the world of sports continues to evolve in many aspects such as technology, equipment, training programs, etc. in the name of increasing a player’s performance. There is one aspect of improving player performance that does not need much evolution, the branch of nutrition. There are various sports drinks, energy bars, and recovery supplements out there but many of them may not be necessary for most individuals. By following these 5 basic tips you can start to perform more consistently and at a higher level than you ever did before.

  1. Eat nutrient-dense foods:
Eat the most nutrient dense and nutritious foods that are available to you. Thousands of studies indicate the benefits of eating nutrient-dense foods extend life, minimizes disease, helps with weight control, improves mental clarity and enhances performance.

  2. Maintain healthy blood sugar levels
Being able to manage your sugar levels can help prevent energy crashes during your game by giving you sustained energy instead of requiring “energy spikes.”

  3. Consume high antioxidant superfoods
Foods that are high in antioxidants will help your body recover faster and improve your athletic endurance.

  4. Eat Omega-3 fatty acids
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for improving and maintaining heart and brain health. Having a strong heart and mind will improve your performance and concentration.

  5. Stay hydrated
Staying hydrated is a must when playing golf.
Even being mildly dehydrated can decrease your hitting distance, accuracy, and mental focus.

Golfers now have the ability to gain a competitive edge both on and off the course by adding the power of nutrition to their game. In addition to increased levels of energy, mental focus, and endurance, staying healthy results in being able to play golf well into retirement.
